A technical support task is not complete when someone says, “the change was made.” At All About Web Services, completion means the underlying cause was identified, the production change was controlled, and the public result was independently verified.
A recent set of Google Search Console reports across three client websites shows how that process works in practice.
Three reports, three different causes
1. A 404 issue caused by missing media
Four missing image references affected six posts on biohealth.ca. The broken references were replaced with valid, relevant images already present on the site. The old references were confirmed absent from the sitemap, and all four replacement images returned HTTP 200.
2. Obsolete ecommerce URLs in the sitemap
On wordpress911.ca, the support review found 15 obsolete SureCart product records: nine dead URLs and six legacy or redirected records. The existing SureRank configuration was used to apply noindex directives and sitemap exclusions.
Verification found zero obsolete product URLs remaining in the sitemap. The four current products remained discoverable and all returned HTTP 200.
3. Canonical tags that did not match public URLs
Nine published posts on oshawachiropractor.com used explicit canonical links in the old WordPress ?p=ID format. Those values were corrected to match the public permalinks. Every affected page now returns HTTP 200 and self-canonicalizes to its proper public URL.
The AAWS support standard
- Diagnose before editing: connect the report to the exact content, product, or metadata record.
- Preserve rollback data: create recovery files before changing production records.
- Limit the blast radius: change only what the investigation proves is necessary.
- Verify publicly: test the URLs, sitemap, and canonical output visitors and search engines actually receive.
- Keep humans in the approval loop: technical verification supports—not replaces—final editorial and business review.
Rollback files were created before the changes, caches were flushed afterward, and no plugins were installed. No unrelated content was altered.
This combination of experienced WordPress oversight and careful automation lets our team resolve support issues faster without sacrificing accountability.
